Request Desk Accessibility Terminal

Accessibility Statement

Effective Date: June 17, 2026

1. OUR COMMITMENT TO INCLUSIVITY

At Request Desk, we believe technology should be designed for everyone. Our platform is accessible by design. We are committed to empowering all users—including coordinators, business owners, and nonprofit representatives—to submit, review, and coordinate donation requests without technical or visual barriers. We continuously integrate accessibility standards into our neobrutalist and high-contrast design choices to ensure all layouts remain highly legible and navigable for everyone.

2. CONFORMANCE STATUS

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for individuals with disabilities. Request Desk targets full conformance with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. This ensures our platform remains navigable and intuitive for users relying on assistive technologies, screen readers, or keyboard-only navigation.

3. TECHNICAL MEASURES AND INITIATIVES

To support our WCAG 2.2 AA target, we implement the following technical measures:

  • Semantic Structure: Implementation of strict HTML landmarks (header, main, nav, footer, section) and explicit ARIA attributes across intake forms and dashboard lists.
  • Keyboard Navigability: Removing ARIA modal focus traps and ensuring that all interactive elements are fully focusable and reachable using the tab key.
  • Target Sizing (Criterion 2.5.8): Ensuring buttons, input fields, select dropdowns, and links possess a minimum interactive selection area of 24x24 CSS pixels.
  • Focus Visibility (Criterion 2.4.11): Ensuring focused elements show high-contrast, black-outline highlights that are never completely obscured by navigation elements or sticky banners.
  • Accessible Inputs: Designing input fields with persistent label tags and placeholders that do not test user cognition.
  • Symmetrical UI: Balancing visual weights and avoiding dark patterns or manipulative visual choices in form confirmations.

4. KNOWN LIMITATIONS

While we strive for comprehensive accessibility, you may encounter temporary limitations when using external third-party widgets, such as specific web camera streaming interfaces (for scanning QR codes in the coordinator terminal) or legacy mail transport rendering environments that are outside our direct codebase control.

5. ALTERNATIVE ACCESS AND REPORTING PROTOCOL

We welcome your feedback and are dedicated to providing support. If you encounter accessibility barriers, or require an alternative method to access our content or Services, please reach out. We will work with you to provide the information through a communication method that is accessible to you.

  • Response Time: We aim to acknowledge and respond to accessibility feedback within two (2) business days to provide an alternative pathway.
